L.A. Derby Dolls Pound On Doin’ It With Ethan

Posted on Nov 01, 2010 by ethan in Celebrity Interview, Human Interest

Doin’ It With Ethan gets a lesson in roller derby from the L.A. Derby Dolls- an all female roller derby league. Krissy Krash, Haught Wheels, Demolicious, Iron Maiven and Suzy Snakeyes all give Ethan a pounding- so to speak. Drew Barrymore even stops by. Fellow Doll Shauna “Maggie Mayhem” Cross wrote the book Derby Girl and the screenplay of the movie Whip It starring Ellen Page and directed by Drew.

The L.A. Derby Dolls play on a banked oval track that they built themselves. In each game two teams face off against each other. The game is divided into four quarters with each quarter divided into Jams. At the end of a game, the team with the most points wins.

This is serious stuff. Don’t get in their way or you might get ripped apart by your AP English teacher. All the Dolls have day jobs and they’re not what you’d expect.

The Dolls also run a junior league for girls ages 8–17 to learn the sport of roller derby and to learn empowerment, community, leadership, and athleticism.

Watch them in action and see how cool these women are.
